I know that we all have larger goals in mind. Ultimately, we are all seeking the final outcome, but what about all of the small goals that you have achieved?

It is the small achievements that fuel the fire! You must enjoy what you are doing in order to finish!

Une Femme de Luxe – New Beginnings!

I am currently working on a project to empower female entrepreneurs in hopes of starting a new networking group in the Pacific Northwest! I want to give other women the chance to come together and share their experiences whether they own their own brick and mortar shop, are stay at home moms with a business, or an Internet marketer like myself. This new blog and site will entertain many ideas and will be a site for like minded women to share their struggles and accomplishments, because honestly, who doesn’t enjoy a great success story?!

My goal is to feature different women each month who have found phenomenal success whether it be monetarily or emotionally.

I can’t wait to get this site running and I hope that many other women will benefit as well!

Kauai

Aloha! Shawn and I have finally made it to Kauai! It is so beautiful out here! The scenery, the water, smells, wildlife.. this is truly paradise!

We were so excited to see our friend Dan, who is getting married TODAY! We went to the Princeville Golf Club for the rehearsal dinner, and I must say the dinner was fabulous and the music was top notch! Everyone on the island has been very welcoming! I was amazing by the rain at times, it looked as though we were right below a waterfall as the rain cascaded off of the deck cover!

It still doesn’t feel like we are here yet! I’m sure reality will set in soon! I am sitting on the lanai right now and am just taking it all in! The cool breeze from the ocean is blowing through my hair, and oddly enough, the roosters are pleading for my attention!

Shawn and I have a beautiful ocean view room at the Hilton Resort. We have been very please thus far with the level of service, staff, and overall cleanliness of the resort. There are three pools, two jacuzzi tubs, and a water slide, which I can’t wait to try out! The grounds are neatly manicured and we are very impressed. We will definitely be staying here again!

We will probably be doing a little site seeing and shopping today before the big night! I can’t wait to take in the culture of the island!

I have also decided that my first tattoo will be acquired here on the island which will be of a pink and yellow plumeria flower! I am so excited!

I hope you are all having a FABULOUS weekend! We sure are lucky that we have a lifestyle that allows us to take vacations and to be a part of special occasions like our friends wedding!

Little Tikes toy recall

For those of us with children, we all know and understand the importance of child safety. Unfortunately, having to monitor the toys our children play with is a huge part. I found this article online I thought that I should share this with you all! Be sure to call the number below if you have any concerns about your Little Tikes toy.

The Little Tikes Co. has recalled almost 2 million toy workshops and trucks after an 11-month-old boy got a plastic nail lodged in his throat.

The recalled toys were sold on the Little Tikes Web site and by retailers around the U.S., including Toys “R” Us, between March 1994 and June 2009.

The recall includes a variety of toys manufactured by Little Tikes of Hudson, Ohio, in both the United States and China. They were sold with red or blue plastic toy nails that are about 3 1/4 inches long.

Things to do in Seattle

It would only make sense for us to write about a city that we know so much about! For those traveling to Seattle, we have compiled a great list of things to see, places to go, and great food to eat! We would love to keep updating this list for those of you who are regulars to Seattle looking for things to do!

Shawn and I, being the social butterflies that we are, love to travel and enjoy exploring our beautiful city. Seattle is such a central location so whether you love the ocean or mountains, we have it all!

Pike Place Market- Okay, duh. This is an obvious one, but for so many reasons! Besides the flowers, the flying fish, and Starbucks – which the market is known for, here are a few little extra spots you should visit!

1. Crepe de France : Open Sunday – Monday 10am to 6pm, this is one of our favorites. Located by the fish stand, this run business always adds a special touch with the ambiance, personality, and fresh produce. The popularity for little little restaurant has definitely grown. I love that you can sit and watch them make your crepe fresh. From breakfast to dessert crepes, you will be sure to find your favorite dish!

Make sure to say hello to Michael or Ronnie! Tell them that Shawn and Adriana sent you!

2. The Can Can Room : Located at the corner of 1st and Pike, the Can Can is an award winning night spot. Offering amazing happy hour specials, they have an eclectic array of entertainment. It may be a little tricky to find at first because the bar is actually located below the market. The scene: Paris. Time: Early 20th century. Entertainment: National and local headliners, and the Can Can dance troupe.

Post Alley : This is one of Shawns favorites. There are great pubs and hidden shops.

1.Roses Chocolate Treasures: Offering artisan chocolates and bonbons and a selection of drinking chocolates and cocoas, they make is so easy to indulge your sweet tooth. www.roseschocolatetreasures.com

2.Perennial Tea Room: For those who are tea lovers, like myself, you will take much joy and find great appreciation for this tea room. This tea room has a great selection of black tea, green, and rooibos. www.perennialtearoom.com

Seattle Waterfront:

1.Ye Olde Curiosity Shop: If mummies, sea creatures, and shrunken heads freak you out, then this is probably not the place for you. But if it envokes any bit of curiousity, you will love it here!! Located on Pier 54, the curiosity shop is a fun place to spark your imagination and jolt your senses. With interesting artifacts and souvenirs, this is definitely a place to see!

2. Seattle Argosy Boat Tours: Located on Pier 55 & 56, enjoy the breathtaking views aboard an Argosy Cruise. Offering dining, siteseeing, and themed cruises, there is bound to be a right fit for you. The site seeing cruises are a duration of 1 – 4 hours. Cruises are narrated. I would recommend any of them. Take a look at the cruise calendar to see which is the best for you.

Ride the Ducks of Seattle: Don’t forget your quakers when you take this fun and entertaining tour of Seattle. Tour Seattle by land and water on a World War 2amphibious landing craft. Open year round- rain or shine, this is a great tour for all ages!

Seattle Underground Tour : Take a walking tour of Seattle’s subterranean level of historic Pioneer Square. As you roam through the subterranean passages, you will get a historic look of old Seattles main road ways and storefronts. This is definitely a tour worth taking!

I find myself constantly re-evaluating my relationships with others. I always think about the type of person I have become and strive to be.

Am I a good daughter? Sister? Mother? Lover? Do I treat my friends with the same respect that I expect from them? Do those close to me realize how much I value and appreciate our relationship?

My baby brothers death was probably one of the most devastating events in my life to date. Tanner was six months shy of his 13th birthday when he lost his battle to cancer. He was so loved by those around him, and at his memorial many of his friends stood up in front of us all with dignity, and those children expressed their love and devotion for their dear friend.

Had I expressed the same kind words to him prior to his passing, my life may not be the way it is now.

***My thought for today- It only takes a few short seconds to call those that mean the most. Because you never know, there may not be a tomorrow. Enjoy life to it’s fullest. Love those around you, and make sure you express your appreciation for your friendships and relationships with others. The word Love is not used enough, because if it were, the world would be a much kinder place.

Farmer’s Markets

I love this time of the year and having the opportunity to enjoy our local Farmer’s Markets. I appreciate the time and effort the community has put into these events that draw so much attention. The great thing about these markets is that all of the produce, flowers, artwork, and other items that are featured have been provided to us by local folk.

Late Summer and early Fall are the perfect seasons for visiting Farmers Markets. From the small, mom-and-pop stand at the corner, to the large, organized market with multiple vendors and extensive selections, it is definitely worth the trip. Experiencing food at its finest can encourage even the pickiest eater to try a few bites. When it comes to fresh fruits and vegetables, the market is the perfect place to locate some fabulous food finds for everyone in the family!

Living in Seattle, we frequent Pike’s Place Market. I have to say that regardless of how many times I have been there, I walk through the market as if it were my first. The aroma from the food, the colors of the flowers, and the sites of people.. It’s amazing. And, I can’t tell you how much I save by purchasing fresh produce from the market, which we do weekly.

*Benefits of shopping at the Farmers Market

–The fruits and vegetables are grown locally and picked when perfectly ripened. This enhances the taste, texture, and aroma of the produce.

–Often, market prices are lower than at grocery stores.

–Our existing system of food transportation and distribution requires enormous amounts of energy and resources. Before reaching your table, the average food item in the United States will travel 1,300 miles! In fact, only about 10% of the fossil fuel energy used in the world’s food system is used for production. The other 90% goes into packaging, transportation, and marketing of the food. All this inefficiency creates many environmental problems.

–Shopping at the Farmers Market benefits the local farmer and strengthens your local community.

–Since the produce is picked at the peak of the season, nutrients, and phytochemicals will be more abundant.

Like Hippocrates said, “Let food be your medicine.”

Doody Patrol. How do you dispose of your dog’s waste?

Picture this, you are walking your dog and he stops to do his business in the grass. You then reach in your pocket and pull out your handy stash of little plastic bags to clean up the poo. You tie the end of it and toss it in the trash when you arrive home. The next day, your trash is hauled off to the dump. That little plastic bag filled with doggy doo will now sit in the landfill for at least the next 20 years. In fact, it’s unknown as to how long that bag takes to decompose.

Not a pretty picture, is it?

Living in the Pacific Northwest, we are as Eco-Friendly as it gets. But, to be honest with you, as Eco-friendly as we strive to be, I have never given much thought to the impacts that our dog’s waste imposes on the environment! And it’s not even their poop that we should be worried about, it’s the plastic bags we use to pick it up with.

I am definitely a web surfer. I love to find the latest and greatest when it comes to Eco friendly products and ideas.

After doing plenty of research, I came across this great website that sells 100% biodegradable and compostable bags! Not only does Bio Bag sell dog waste bags, they also have kitchen and yard waste bags! It is so great to know that there are other options out there when it comes to disposing of your trash.
